'Oh my word' – These Leeds fans delighted by official Elland Road announcement

Leeds chief Angus Kinnear saved an absolute bombshell for the 100th birthday celebrations, dropping the news that Elland Road is going to be developed into a 50,000-seater stadium.

As you can imagine, plenty of fans are absolutely delighted with the news that will take their stadium up into the Premier League elite.

Currently, Elland Road has a capacity of 37,890. According to Futaa.com, the 50,000 capacity would take them to eighth in the Premier League, behind Man United, Man City, Newcastle, West Ham, Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool, but ahead of Aston Villa.

Adding Wembley to the equation means that Elland Road would be the ninth biggest in England, and, as one fan said, Leeds would still sell out every week at the moment – especially if they were in the Premier League.

Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth quoted Kinnear as saying that the development would depend on the club getting promoted.
