‘Absolutely shocking’ – MOT Super Fans pick saint and sinner from Leeds loss v Cardiff
It wasn’t the return we had all hoped for on Sunday as Leeds United fell to a 2-0 defeat against Cardiff City in the Championship.
Two mistakes led to two goals as the Whites conceded from Cardiff’s only two shots on target through Junior Hoilett and Robert Glatzel in the Welsh capital.
Not to worry though, Fulham’s defeat against Brentford the day before means that Leeds have maintained their seven-point gap with one less game played.
It was a typical Leeds performance in reality, with Marcelo Bielsa’s men doing everything but put the ball in the back of the net – a serious case of deja vu.
With Pablo Hernandez missing, Tyler Roberts stepped into the playmaker role and didn’t disappoint. The second half also saw January signing Ian Poveda make his full Championship debut for the club.
Leeds kept 68.9% of the ball on Sunday, as well as having 10 more shots on goal and completing almost 300 more accurate passes according to WhoScored.
It would have been much more disappointing if the Whites had slumped to defeat and showed no promise, but nearly all of the signs looked good heading into the Fulham clash.
We asked our esteemed panel of Super Fans to pick their saints and sinners from the 2-0 defeat on Sunday, and whether or not anyone should be dropped for that crucial game.

The general response was that Stuart Dallas and Roberts both impressed in the game, with Patrick Bamford taking the majority of the criticism, although one fan said Jack Harrison was “absolutely shocking”.
There is obviously a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Bamford with Jean-Kevin Augustin injured, but that goes up another level when Roberts is forced to drop deeper as there are no strikers to come off the bench then.
Bamford did earn some sympathy with it being the first piece of action he has had in over three months, but each player is the same, and it looks like fans want to see more from the target man.
