Mateusz Klich jokingly shares verdict on Aleksandar Mitrovic incident v Leeds

It was only two minutes into the game on Saturday before Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic left his mark on Leeds United defender Ben White.

The Serbian hit the Brighton loanee with an intentional elbow seconds after he had cleared the ball downfield, with the officials somehow missing the incident.

That wasn’t the first clash between the pair this season, with Mitrovic even grabbing White by the throat in the reverse fixture at Craven Cottage.

Leeds fans were outraged by the controversy, with many calling for the EFL to take action after Mitrovic avoided a clear red card.

Mateusz Klich has delivered his verdict on the clash on his personal Twitter account on Sunday, sharing a joke on the behalf of White.

“Ben shouldn’t run into his elbow to be fair,” he wrote.

It was a disgusting action by Mitrovic, who was tormented throughout the game but that is no excuse for what he did.

When you consider that Patrick Bamford was banned for two matches last season for feigning an injury against Aston Villa, surely this is worth a three-game or maybe even four-match suspension.

It was a real battle on an afternoon that proved White is ready for the step-up to the Premier League.

White could easily have shrunk into his shell after the incident, but instead, he stood up and made sure that the Serbian talisman didn’t get a sniff all afternoon.

Mitrovic was frequently pictured walking around and throwing tantrums after his duels with White, as he kept the league’s best striker quiet easily.

The 22-year-old made two tackles and won a couple of aerial duels against Mitrovic, who was dispossessed six times at Elland Road – the most of any player according to WhoScored.

We can expect Mitrovic to get his retrospective action given to him, but Leeds will take the three points and continue their charge to the Premier League.
