Many Leeds fans react to ‘interesting’ update on plan for season: ‘Could be financial meltdown’
Leeds United are not going to back down if hypothetical plans for the season to be null and voided become a reality and are reportedly ready to launch legal action against the Premier League if it does.
According to The Times, Leeds met with the other sides in the Championship top six on Monday to discuss how they want the season to proceed amid the current coronavirus-enforced suspension.
It is understood that Leeds, West Brom, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Brentford and Preston all agree that they want the current season to be finished at some point – even if it means delaying the start of next season.
West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady has said she wants to see the season voided while Aston Villa’s Jesus Garcia Pitarch wants relegation scrapped.
Of course, they are in high positions at relegation-threatened clubs and are only acting in their own, self, best interests.
Leeds fans are understandably happy to see their club take this stance as the threat of nulling and voiding the season would derail their best push to reach the Premier League since dropping out of the top-flight 16 years ago.
One fan claims that the financial implications of the Whites’ promotion push being cancelled would lead to a “financial meltdown”, which might not be far off the truth based on how much has been invested in this bid to get out of the Championship.
