Leeds United board to meet Michael Skubala and Paco Gallardo on Monday afternoon as new manager saga rumbles on – Graham Smyth
The Leeds board are set to meet later on Monday afternoon with Michael Skubala and Paco Gallardo after Alfred Schreuder was ruled out of the running for the manager’s job.
The Whites invited the Dutch coach to Elland Road for the clash with Manchester United on Sunday (12 February) as he was deemed a serious contender for the role to replace Jesse Marsch, who was sacked last week (6 February).
But after the ex-Ajax boss returned to Holland and is now out of contention for the job, the board are set to meet to discuss the next steps with the weekend fixture against Everton high on the agenda according to Graham Smyth in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“Leeds chiefs will meet with caretaker bosses Michael Skubala and Paco Gallardo today in order to discuss the situation and the week ahead, with Saturday’s trip to fellow relegation battlers Everton pulling sharp focus,” he wrote (13 February).
Speed needed
The decision for Schreuder not to take the reigns will be popular without a doubt, and it seems like the right one on paper.
But there is a need for the board to really get their act together quickly and bring someone in that is a good fit because time is running out.

Leeds are firmly in a relegation battle now after the defeat to Man United at the weekend, and we need someone to come in and steady the ship but also improve the team.
The meeting now should hopefully bring some direction to the club quickly and see moves made in the next few days to get someone in before the weekend game against Everton.
That is a must win game, and with the fans likely to be pushing hard to have someone in place for such a big game on the road, that needs decisiveness from those at the top to really show that the club is pulling in the right direction during such an important moment.
