Leeds handed big promotion boost as EFL HQ sends out Championship message – report

Leeds United have been handed a major boost to their hopes of completing the Championship season, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that the EFL has given clubs the green light to recommence training on Monday while the EFL headquarters add that “most clubs have indicated they wish to complete the season in full”.

It would take over 51 per cent of clubs in any EFL division to vote against finishing the season for it to be decided on a points-per-game basis but it seems that is unlikely to be the case in the Championship as teams gear up to return to play.

Championship leaders Leeds have always taken the stance that they want to complete the season by playing out their remaining nine fixtures.

Second-placed West Brom are also in the same boat with the two runaway clubs acting superbly throughout the coronavirus crisis and wanting to win promotion how it should be won – on the pitch.

Leeds have been out of the Premier League for almost 16 years and winning promotion back to the top-flight has been the only things fans have wanted for well over a decade.

We don’t want to see the club finally achieve it’s goal by the way of a boardroom vote that sees them win promotion by the PPG method.

Of course, it would be great to see Leeds back in the Premier League however possible but we want to do it right and this latest update from the EFL is major boost.
