‘It’s not dangerous’ – Radrizzani details plan for Leeds fans to return to Elland Rd ‘soon’

Andrea Radrizzani believes that Leeds United fans could return to Elland Road in the near future if the stadium is only one-third full.

Leeds, like every other team in England, have been playing behind closed doors since the Premier League and Championship seasons resumed last month.

Leeds have so far lost to Cardiff, beat Fulham and drawn with Luton in empty stadiums, with the latter two being held at an Elland Road packed out by cardboard cut-outs of fans.

Leeds owner Radrizzani is hopeful that it won’t be too long before fans can make their way back to the club’s stadium to attend matches.

“I don’t think it’s necessary to completely shut down the stadium. It’s not dangerous to have 1/3 of the people in.. With the right adjustment & precaution I think it’s possible to have people soon at the stadium,” said Radrizzani, as quoted by BBC Radio Leeds’ Adam Pope.

Imagine the fight for tickets if around only 10,000 people could attend Leeds matches once fans are allowed back into Elland Road.

How would Leeds go about deciding this? You cannot give priority to season ticket holders because there are way more than 10,000, so maybe they will introduce a way to rotate tickets among season ticket holders, with fans getting to see every other game.

We’re not sure how it would work but that seems like a fair solution because it is going to be a long time before the club is allowed to host sold-out matches at Elland Road.

Leeds are likely to be in the Premier League next season and the demand for tickets is going to be at an all-time high.

It is so unfortunate that not everyone will be able to attend games in the Premier League but a lot of fans have come to terms with that now and the most important thing is simply getting there.
