‘I thought I’d give him a bit of stick’ – Dallas says why he rinsed Leeds team-mate on Instagram

Leeds United ace Stuart Dallas has joked about when he gave Barry Douglas a bit of stick on Instagram last week in an interview with BBC Radio Leeds.

Douglas uploaded a video of himself on Instagram, showing himself smashing shots into the back of the net at close range without a goalkeeper in goal.

Dallas replied in the comments saying that Douglas’ efforts were “not bad for eight yards out.”

Douglas even missed one of the shots, which rebounded back off the woodwork and the Northern Ireland international has now taken a funny dig at Douglas for his activity on the social network app.

“We have our group chats on WhatsApp and stuff so there is a bit of banter flying about. Barry was doing that but we all had to do that as part of our training regime, just to get the ball and strike it. It didn’t matter how they went in it, it was just to get the muscles working again.

“But Barry loves an Instagram post, doesn’t he? I thought I’d give him a bit of stick.”

When asked if he scored all his free-kicks, Dallas said: “I did, yes. But I didn’t video it.”

It is good to see how well the Leeds players get on with one another and that is bound to be one of the reasons why the club has done so well this season.

It is all well and good having a squad of top players, a top manager and a brilliant tactical system but that might all be pointless if the squad isn’t as closely-knit as Leeds’ is.

Douglas definitely does love to upload stuff on his Instagram, mainly of his family and football-related posts.

But at least he’s keeping himself busy and keeping Leeds fans up to date on what his life is like in lockdown.

In other Leeds United news, Keith Andrews was blown away by this “masterstroke” in the transfer market by the Whites.
