Stu’s to lose?

There are a number of awards set to be dished out but perhaps the most prestigious will be the actual ‘Player of the Year’ ones, voted by fans and teammates.

Stuart Dallas is surely the frontrunner for both awards after a sensational end to the season that has capped a consistent campaign for the Northern Ireland international, with the highlight his double in a 2-1 win at Manchester City on April 10.

But the likes of Raphinha and Patrick Bamford will quite rightly fancy their chances of winning after helping to fire Leeds to within a whisker of European contention on their return to the top-flight.

Other gongs are also set to be hotly contested, particularly the ‘Young Player of the Year’ award.

Illan Meslier is the clear favourite in this category after breaking Joe Hart’s 14-year Premier League record for the most clean sheets in a season for a goalkeeper before their 21st birthday, though Pascal Struijk is surely worthy of a mention after making his mark in defence.

It’s sure to be a night of celebration and it’s no less than the players deserve after a brilliant season back in the big time.

We can’t wait to watch it.
