Dr Dan shares when Radrizzani will sell Leeds United amid £100m valuation hit
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Andrea Radrizzani will be looking for Leeds United to become a regular Premier League outfit before cashing in on them.
That’s according to Dr Dan Plumley who claims that relegation would impact the club’s valuation in a major way.
He sees Leeds’ value drop to the tune of nine figures which will be a financial disaster for the Italian.

While the San Francisco 49ers hold a stake in the club, Radrizzani is still the majority stakeholder.
When asked about the possibility of Radrizzani selling the club, the Sheffield Hallam University expert told MOT Leeds News,
“He could do it today, but the challenge he’s got at the minute is basically where the club are in the league and where they might go.
“They’re a better proposition when they’re in the Premier League, so staying there is vital.
“Not just from the club’s point of view but also from his point of view. It can take £100million off the value if they’re relegated as it’s linked to TV income.
“He will view them as a better sale proposition if they stabilise in the Premier League and if you’re looking to maximise the money they make from that then that will be the way to play it.
“Right now, anybody taking over the club is also thinking the same thing. They don’t want to pay over the odds if they’re going to get relegated.”

Leeds United board member Massimo Marinelli recently stated that Radrizzani was not looking to leave as of now.
“The 49ers are a strong partner of ours and they have been investing and increasing their stake, as is public, over a certain period of time,” Marinelli told the Financial Times’ Business of Football Summit, as quoted by LeedsLive.
“Aser is 100 per cent committed to Leeds United and is here to stay. There was some press speculation around what may or may not happen, but at the moment the focus is on what it is the club needs.”
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
