‘Class’, ‘Coming to the Premier League’ – Some Leeds fans react to Neville quotes on key figure
Most people involved in football have a story to tell about Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa.
The best of those are usually ones from rivals of Leeds as the fans tend to rub it in that little bit more now that El Loco is nearing promotion back to the Premier Leauge at Elland Road.
Bielsa already had fond memories of England before he managed Leeds, including his Atletic Bilbao side’s trip to Old Trafford to dismantle Manchester United.
Gary Neville recently spoke about that game and admitted that he was blown away by that night and had to check the stats three times to believe them.
“I remember speaking to our analyst after that game,” he said via Tom Carnduff’s Twitter account.
“He said he had to look at the stats three times to believe them. They were off the scale. They were a Bielsa team. He’d never seen anything like it at Old Trafford.”
Bleacher Report released a report looking into how Bielsa managed his side that night and they came up with a mix of five tactics used including a high press with man-marking – something which we are used to seeing at Elland Road now.
Many Leeds fans took to the responses to react to Neville’s quotes, with the majority claiming that he should look forward to seeing that in the Premier League with Bielsa at the helm.
