Bamford says Leeds team-mate may be finding lockdown ‘quite hard’ due to living in hotel
Patrick Bamford believes that the majority of his Leeds United team-mates are coping quite well in lockdown but has a bit of a concern about Jean-Kevin Augustin.
Augustin, 22, arrived on loan at Elland Road in the January transfer window after a loan-to-buy deal was agreed with RB Leipzig.
Since his arrival, the French striker has made just three appearances off the bench and has struggled to get to peak fitness due to his lack of football this season and a hamstring injury he suffered just before the Championship season was suspended.
And it seems that Augustin has had something else to contend with in his early days as a Leeds player as he is yet to have a place to live in England and has been held up in a hotel.
Bamford has been keeping in touch with all of his team-mates but reckons that the foreign players could be struggling a little bit more than those whose families are not abroad.
“I feel, in general, everyone’s doing alright,” Bamford told Leeds’ official website.
“A lot of the boys have kids but I think JKA is in a hotel. He was before the lockdown because he didn’t have a place to live so I imagine it’s quite hard for him being away from family.
“I suppose it’s the same for a few of the lads but in general, everyone’s doing fine.”
Augustin has been sharing a lot of videos on Instagram to show how he has been trying to keep himself fit in the lockdown and it does seem as though he could be in a hotel room.
It would make sense for him to not buy a house as soon as he joined Leeds because there’s no guarantee that he would be staying in Yorkshire come the end of his loan spell.
If the Whites do agree to buy him from Leipzig then you’d imagine Augustin would get settled somewhere but before football was halted, he didn’t have much of a clue about his future.
