Daniel Farke must be proud as Leeds United achieve record first vs Crystal Palace

Leeds United stopped Crystal Palace from having a shot on goal at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Whites secured a point in South London with a 0-0 draw, a game that arguably wasn't the most entertaining watch.

Just before the break, Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed a penalty and Gabriel Gudmundsson was shown his second yellow minutes later by Thomas Bramall, who appeared to have forgotten he had booked the defender earlier.

Despite the disappointment, Daniel Farke got a draw at Selhurst Park, with the West Yorkshire outfit putting in a resolute display.

Leeds became the first team on Opta's record to not face a shot on target in the Premier League despite playing the second half with 10 men.

The Whites were arguably the better of the two teams in the opening 45 minutes, but failed to capitalise on their chances.

In the second half, it wasn't surprising to see Palace dominate possession, holding 80 per cent of it according to Sofascore, but Oliver Glasner's team failed to test Karl Darlow.

The Eagles had 12 shots in the game, but it was Walter Benitez who made three saves, compared to the Wales international's zero.

After the break, the West Yorkshire outfit had to be dominant defensively and did exactly that, winning 73 per cent of ground duels.

Farke's team have undoubtedly shown they're capable of grinding out results, which will surely come in handy in avoiding Premier League relegation.

Brenden Aaronson and Lukas Nmecha were sacrificed after Gundmundsson's sending off, and it turned out to be the right decision from Farke.

The German manager has had immense faith in the USMNT star this season, but it may be time to drop him to the bench.

While the 25-year-old was only on for 45 minutes, he didn't put in a convincing display, losing possession seven times, failing to complete his two dribbles, completing 75 per cent of his passes, and losing all seven defensive duels.

Leeds face Brentford next at Elland Road on 21 March and it will be interesting to see how Farke sets up his team.
