Leeds offer to sign Jan Bednarek revealed as agent leaks Elland Road move

Leeds have had a hugely busy transfer window following their promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites have already added seven new faces to the squad that raced to the Championship title, and they will be hopeful of getting a few more through the door in the latter stages of the window.

A lack of Premier League experience within Leeds’ squad has been one of the main concerns since their promotion, particularly in the spine of the team.

Daniel Farke’s side have already moved to address that this summer, but opportunities to add further top-flight nous will certainly not be sniffed at.

Agent reveals Leeds interest in Bednarek before Porto move

The signing of Sean Longstaff could be one of Leeds’ most crucial pieces of business this summer, as the midfielder is somebody who knows what it takes to perform in the Premier League.

He may not be the most glamorous addition, but he is a consistent and reliable performer who will help to drive standards across the rest of the squad.

The Geordie is a seasoned campaigner in the Premier League, and a fresh update has now emerged that has further highlighted the West Yorkshire outfit’s desire to continue to add further top-flight knowledge.

It has now been revealed that Leeds held an interest in signing Southampton defender Jan Bednarek, according to his agent Tomasz Magdziarz.

The centre back’s representative has suggested to the Polish outlet Meczyki (31 July), that the Whites made an offer to him back to the Premier League this summer.

West Ham were also named as another interested party, but the 29-year-old ultimately chose Porto, and joined them on Tuesday (29 July).

“There were offers from England and beyond,” said Magdziarz. Leeds United and West Ham appeared . Many clubs were interested in Janek . However, we must remember that he had a very good contract at Southampton, one of the higher ones, and many clubs that were interested in him could not afford it, ” he added.

The Whites have dodged a bullet with Bednarek

Leeds have already strengthened the centre of their defence with the arrivals of Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw, but another addition would certainly be welcome.

However, it’s fair to say that they may have dodged a bullet by missing out on Bednarek.

The Polish international has spent the last eight years on the South Coast, and he has suffered two relegations from the Premier League in the last three seasons.

He understandably fits the bill for Leeds as someone with ample top-level experience, but he is not the sort of calming presence that Farke would want at the heart of his backline.

The defender is inconsistent and error-prone, and the Whites can arguably count themselves lucky to have missed out on him.
