Leeds United Super Fans react to Whites pursuit of Conor Gallagher
This is part of a regular series from our panel of Leeds United Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Leeds Insider Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Elland Road.
According to Football.London, Leeds United are in talks to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher on a loan deal.
The online news outlet claims the Whites have “put together a very impressive presentation” to try to lure the 21-year-old to Elland Road this summer.
The England Under-21 talent spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at West Brom but suffered relegation heartache during a dismal season for the West Midlands club.
Gallagher was a rare bright spark for the Baggies but there is a great deal of trepidation from some Leeds fans over signing someone on a temporary basis, developing them and sending them back to their parent club as a better player.
We asked our panel of Leeds Super Fans what they thought of the potential move for Gallagher.
Here’s what they had to say…
Gallagher looks ideal for Marcelo Bielsa in that he is a combative and hard-working midfielder, and his youthful years mean he can still improve immeasurably.
However, it’s fair to have mixed feelings on this, given the Ben White saga of last summer.
Brighton refused to let him leave after a stellar season for the Whites, and we were left to move onto other targets.
Fans can get attached to players, and it’s frustrating when they are taken away after just one season.
Hopefully, there can be some kind of clause inserted that would allow us to make it a permanent move in the future.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have tabled a bid for this South American backed to be ‘World-class’ by David Villa.
