Leeds Super Fans react to Luke Ayling contract update

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Leeds United Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Leeds Insider Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Elland Road…

Leeds United defender Luke Ayling has had one of his most frustrating seasons yet at Elland Road so far this year.

Injury has kept him sidelined since the 1-1 draw against Newcastle a couple of months back and he hasn’t been seen since.

Having been ruled out against Leicester City tomorrow too, we will have to wait until after the international break to see him in action.

Things may not all be looking downhill for Ayling, though.

Leeds Live have reported over the past week that the Whites may be set to offer the right-back a new deal at Elland Road.

They suggest that it could happen as soon as January, with next season the last year on Ayling’s current deal with the club.

Cody Drameh and Jamie Shackleton have held down the fort expertly in recent weeks and months despite their young age.

We asked our esteemed panel of MOT Super Fans for their reaction to this news over on Facebook and the response was overwhelming.

The response from the majority was somewhat surprising, with the majority questioning whether this was the right decision.

Here’s what they said below…

It appears as though despite all his good work, Ayling is coming to the end of the line at Elland Road but with two more years potentially left – there is more than enough time to achieve his goals.

In other Leeds United news, Paul Merson has dropped a huge transfer claim on one Whites star with an imminent exit on the cards
