Leeds Super Fans fume at Kiko Casilla despite big win v Southampton

Leeds United fans were left shocked as Kiko Casilla was handed a start in the Premier League win over Southampton.

It was only the Spaniard’s second start of the season in the league, with Illan Meslier left with a spot on the bench at St Mary’s.

Casilla managed to keep a clean sheet, but that didn’t stop him from receiving pelters from fans on social media before, during and after the clash.

Ever since Casilla was found guilty of racially abusing Jon Leko, fans have urged the club to cut ties with the veteran stopper.

It is understandable, although Marcelo Bielsa continues to stand by the former Real Madrid stopper at Elland Road.

After the 2-0 win this evening, El Loco commented on his keeper and once again started to fight his corner to the media, labelling him a “top professional”.

We asked our esteemed panel of Super Fans on our Facebook page this evening to discuss the decision to include Casilla in the side.

There were some differing opinions, but the majority of them couldn’t understand why the club and Bielsa are still sticking by the keeper.

Here’s what they said below…

It appears as though Casilla will be starting in goal against West Brom too, with Bielsa insisting he wants the Spaniard to finish the season on the pitch.

Based on this, it is easy to suggest that it could be the final time he plays for the Whites, who could be about to cut tie with the keeper over the summer.
