Leeds Super Fans destroy Kiko Casilla as exit looms
This is part of a regular series from our panel of Leeds United Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Leeds Insider Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Elland Road.
Leeds United are preparing for life without Kiko Casilla, who has yet to appear for pre-season training.
It has been shared by his agent, via LUFC FANZONE that the Spaniard will jet out of the UK next week to seal his exit from Elland Road.
Since being found guilty of racial abuse two years ago, the keeper has been dislodged from the first team by Illan Meslier.
Marcelo Bielsa has always been a big fan of Casilla, but finally looks to have seen sense when deciding his future at the club.
The former Real Madrid man started the final two games of the Premier League last season, in what now could be seen as his final farewell from the club.
Pablo Hernandez and Gaetano Berardi got similar treatment against West Brom, although we doubt the keeper would have received the same response.
It has been mainly downhill since he crashed out of the side, and there has been a cross next to his name eversince.
Casilla has played his part in this rollercoaster over the past couple of years under Bielsa, although he has never given us an easy ride.
We asked our esteemed panel of Leeds Super Fans over on our Facebook page how they felt about his impending exit, and the response was clear.
Casilla was destroyed by fans, mainly for his performances during his spell at Elland Road, with one even labelling him a “liability.”
A clean start is needed for everyone involved it seems, and it will be interesting to see who his replacement could be.
