Robin Koch easy Leeds United exit mooted by Phil Hay amid relegation uncertainty
Robin Koch wouldn’t find a move hard to come by if Leeds United are relegated to the Championship, according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay.
The 25-year-old German has featured in 35 Premier League matches during the 2022/23 season, featuring in the centre of defence and midfield.
Leeds take on Tottenham on Sunday afternoon and Hay believes Koch could easily find a move away from West Yorkshire if the worst happens.
“Robin Koch has been competent to a degree that if Leeds do go down, he would not find a good move difficult to come by but equally, he is a fixture in a defence which has tried its best to earn charitable status over the past 10 months,” wrote Hay (The Athletic, 26 May).
Restructure
If Leeds are relegated, surely there will be a significant restructuring, right? Koch has been part of a woeful backline, but he’s a good age and has the potential to be a dependable Premier League centre-back. A move away from Elland Road could certainly be on the cards.

Illan Meslier is another who could depart if Leeds are relegated. The Frenchman has endured a tough season, but due to his tender age and Premier League experience, there’s a chance he will be snapped up. A summer of change is very much on the cards.
Andrea Radrizzani needs to make some tough decisions, and fast. A sporting director still needs to be appointed after Victor Orta’s departure from Elland Road.
Furthermore, there’s the small matter of a permanent manager to appoint, with Sam Allardyce extremely unlikely to remain at the club beyond the end of the 2022/23 season. Nonetheless, fans will head to Elland Road on Sunday hoping for a minor miracle to occur.
