MOT Super Fans: Who should replace Kalvin Phillips for Leeds v Huddersfield?

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Leeds United Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Elland Road and Thorp Arch.

Oh Kalvin. 24 minutes into the game against Middlesbrough the Yorkshire Pirlo decided he’d got a chance of making this tackle.

He was never going to make it and it was a challenge he really didn’t need to make. The ball was just outside the Boro box and Leeds were winning 1-0.

Phillips didn’t get the ball but he got a lot of man – and he got a yellow, his fifth of the season. To make things worse, his four yellows would have been wiped after this game.

So Phillips is suspended for the Huddersfield clash and Marcelo Bielsa has to decide who will take his place.

The last time Phillips dropped back into the centre-back spot last season, Mateusz Klich played the holding midfield position.

We don’t think that’s going to happen on Saturday but Bielsa has options.

One of them is Ben White, who has been an absolute revelation at the back this season.

Leeds have the best defence in the Championship and White has played every game at centre-back.

It might seem counter-intuitive to move him up to midfield but Bielsa hinted at that change in the last few minutes against Boro, and former Leeds keeper Paul Robinson thinks White is the best option Leeds have.

Is he? That’s the question we asked our team of Super Fans, and if not White, then who?

This is what they said…

The majority of our Super Fans think White is the man to call on and they think he’ll do a brilliant job on Saturday.
