Leeds United transfer news as Wilfried Gnonto deal could hit £10million

The Leeds United transfer of Wilfried Gnonto could rise to £10m with add-ons after the forwards scintillating recent form, according to The Telegraph.

Unknown to many when he signed from FC Zurich, Gnonto has become a staple within Jesse Marsch’s starting XI in recent weeks and looks set to be a key player for the Whites this season.

The Telegraph reports that Gnonto was initially being lined up by Victor Orta for the 2023/2024 season but the Sporting Director felt landing him immediately would only bolster Marsch’s squad.

“But Orta still had Gnonto in his mind. The teenager was one for the summer ahead of the 2023/24 season but landing him immediately would at least bolster Marsch’s options in attack,” as quoted by the Telegraph. (19 January)

“It was one of the final deals on deadline day but arguably was the best value of the summer.

“The deal may rise to around £10million with add-ons but Leeds have a player of huge promise.”

Unlimited ceiling.

Gnonto has been Leeds United’s story of the season so far and looks above and beyond the player that the Whites expected to arrive from Switzerland.

His ceiling is truly unlimited and that’s not even getting ahead on ones self when saying that, Gnonto has a brilliance that is very rarely seen.

The greatest panic buy of all time? Or a carefully calculated move from the savvy Orta, we’ll let the Sporting Director answer that one in the coming years.

It’s easy to forget that Gnonto is still a teenager, despite this, he’s proving that he can be the go-to man for Leeds United to guide them to Premier League safety.

Having a player of such talents only helps you in those crucial moments and for all the flair and silkiness the Italian possesses there is also a fierce grit and determination to match it.

With players of a similar ilk being branded with £100m price tags in the crazy English transfer windows, it just makes you think how much Gnonto will be worth after a few Premier League campaigns.

In other Leeds United news, this player has jetted into the UK with his dad to be toured around Thorp Arch before signing for the Whites.
