'Leeds best player', 'Unreal' – Many Leeds & Man U fans rave about Whites ace despite 6-2 loss

Illan Meslier conceded six goals at Old Trafford but won plaudits from both sets of fans after a game to forget for Leeds United.

Meslier could have done much better for the goal from Dan James, letting a fairly weak shot through his legs, but performed heroics in the second half.

Without him, United would probably have scored double figures and that would have been catastrophic.

LUFCDATA posted the impressive figures for Meslier, and the 20-year-old made eight saves – six of them from inside the box.

Only West Brom’s Sam Johnstone has made more saves than him in the Premier League this season.

It’s extra impressive when you consider what was going on around him.

The defending from Leeds was at best shambolic and at times completely non-existent.

Meslier must have felt like he had no protection from the Man United attackers and no one could have blamed the youngster for falling to pieces in such a high-pressure situation.

Meslier isn’t the finished article yet but Leeds as a Premier League outfit are a work in progress.

Next season is when we’ll want to see progress and we’re sure that Meslier will be a much more rounded keeper then.

In the meantime, he saved Leeds from a cricket score at Old Trafford and fans on both sides of the divide recognised this.

Here are the best reactions from Leeds and Man United fans…
