Kalvin Phillips' agent Kevin Sharp says he isn't leaving Leeds anytime soon
Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has caught the eyes of Europe after playing a starring role in England’s victory over Croatia a week ago.
The 25-year-old put in an impressive shift as the Three Lions secured a 1-0 win in their European Championship opener.
Juventus, Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have all registered interest in Phillips [TuttoJuve], and many more could emerge in the coming weeks and come forward with transfer bids should he impress during the remainder of the tournament.
However, the agent of the Leeds star Kevin Sharp is not expecting him to leave Elland Road this summer or anytime soon.
“Not at the moment, but that could come out of the blue because these things happen,” the former Whites left-back told Sunday Mirror when asked whether offers have come in for Phillips.
“There may be clubs who are actually looking at Kalvin now. That’s par for the course being a footballer – the more successful you are, the higher level you play, it naturally breeds interest.
“Controlling that would be down to Leeds, but I’ve got no desire to move Kalvin and he’s got no desire to move.”
He also said concerning a possible contract extension: “It’s not something we’re banging the door to make it happen.”
“But if Leeds want to improve that deal and protect their assets, we’d certainly be interested in sitting down with them.”
Kalvin loves Leeds!
We do not have any guarantees, but Phillips spending the rest of his career at Leeds should not be ruled out.
The midfielder demonstrated his love for the club by opting against joining Aston Villa in the summer of 2019 and signing a new five-year deal instead [The Mirror].
With a Leeds-loving family and agent, there is no external pressure on him to leave, and we can only hope the club can match his dreams and ambitions.
Every player dreams of playing Champions League and winning major silverware, and Phillips is not any different.
After finishing last season in ninth position in the Premier League table, Leeds would be looking to push into the top-six next term and going forward.
We expect to see some quality recruitment this summer to help bolster head coach Marcelo Bielsa’s squad, while the workaholic Argentine has probably gone over the tapes of all the 38 games from last season more than once to see where improvements can be made.
The future is very promising for Leeds under owner Andrea Radrizzani, and Phillips could be featuring for us in the Champions League soon.
