Georginio Rutter may arrive to complete Leeds United medical on 10 January

Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter could reportedly arrive to complete his Leeds United medical on 10 January ahead of securing his signing.

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, if the talks continue smoothly on 9 January, everything should be finalised soon.

The German side wanted to keep him at the club but could not resist accepting an offer which is in the region of £35million – breaking Leeds’ transfer record.

Via Twitter, Plettenberg wrote, “News #Rutter: If everything works out tonight the player could arrive in Leeds tomorrow in order to complete his medical. Leeds was always pushing. Hoffenheim couldn’t say no to that massive financial package but would have loved to keep him longer.”

Great news

It seems like Leeds are steadfast in their approach for the 20-year-old striker and are now set to secure his services this week.

There certainly is a huge section of the Leeds fanbase that remains surprised over this pursuit as he’s not a well-known name in European football.

Even if he was a talent they’ve unearthed, his goal-scoring record does not make for very good reading either so it may be slightly difficult to be excited about this.

However, if the club, who have been very reluctant to shell out big sums, are fine with breaking their transfer record for him, there must be something special about him.

His arrival would at least be a relief as the Whites will finally have secured the services of a striker without waiting until the final days of the window.

Hopefully, the talks go as per plan and an official announcement is made about the player’s signing sooner rather than later.

In other Leeds United, the Whites are closely involved in the bidding for an international striker and are even prepared to spend £14million to secure his services.
