'Fantastic' - Former Whites ace selects five current Leeds players in Team of the decade

With Tuesday being the final day of 2019, many have started to select their team of the decade – that is no different at Leeds United.

This decade has seen so many positive memories, but also some dreadful ones – it wouldn’t be Leeds if it was plain sailing at Elland Road.

It started with promotion to the Championship and that famous trip to Old Trafford to beat Manchester United in the FA Cup… who could forget?

The middle of the decade was questionable and filled with thoughts of Massimo Cellino and the club lingering above the relegation zone.

Thankfully that is in the past, with Andrea Radrizzani and Marcelo Bielsa putting Leeds on an upward spiral towards the Premier League.

Ben Parker is one pundit who decided to put together his team of the decade for LUTV, but there are a couple of questionable decisions.

The former Whites defender could have shot himself in the foot by calling his side a “fantastic team” before revealing his choices.

There are five current Leeds players who made the cut. The obvious ones being Kalvin Phillips and Pablo Hernandez in the midfield – surely there are no arguments with those two.

Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper, and Stuart Dallas followed the influential duo, completing three of his back four with Patrick Kisnorbo.

One of the more questionable choices is Dallas at left-back, with the Northern Ireland international only really halfway through his first full season of playing each and every week at Elland Road.

Looking at Cooper and Kisnorbo as well, they were placed ahead of someone like Pontus Jansson. The Swede was superb in his years at the club and made considerably less mistakes than the selected partnership, surely warranting one of the spots.
