Daniel Farke shares Real Madrid transfer admission about 'unplayable' Leeds United ace Georginio Rutter

Daniel Farke dubbed Leeds United forward Georginio Rutter “unplayable” for his first-half performance in the 4-1 win over Huddersfield on Saturday.

Rutter, 21, has shown a tremendous improvement since Leeds dropped down into the Championship and Farke took charge.

The French striker has just two goals to his name in 13 Championship appearances but he does have five assists and has been widely hailed for his involvement in build-up play.

Farke has even made a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that Rutter could be wanted by Real Madrid for £150million due to how well he’s performing for the Whites right now.

“There’s always space for improvement,” Farke said, as quoted by The Athletic (29 October).

“He’s a young player and if he would be perfect in all areas, we would have to accept that Real Madrid would buy him for £150million.

“Thank God it’s not the case and he can grow and develop. But his potential is outstanding. He can be some player, one day.”

Is he joking, though?

Farke has a lot of confidence in his players so it wouldn’t shock us if there was an ounce of seriousness to that claim about Rutter, £150million and Real Madrid.

Many scoffed at the idea of Borussia Dortmund trying to sign the ex-Hoffenheim forward in the summer.

Sky Sports reported on 29 August that Dortmund made an offer of £25million for the 21-year-old in the last transfer window while Ligue 1 side Lyon also looking into signing him.

It was hard to believe those stories after he had such an ineffective half-season under the charges of Jesse Marsch, Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce after Victor Orta signed him from Hoffenheim in January.

However, it’s easy to see why he struggled because ultimately, he was a young player being signed by a useless director of football to sign for a useless manager to play alongside useless teammates.

He was being set up to fail.

Sure, he’s doing well in the Championship and performing well against Huddersfield, QPR and Norwich is a bit different to shining in the Premier League.

But Rutter is only 21 and he’s on the right track so if he keeps on improving at the same rate inflation is rising (which is very quickly), why can’t Real Madrid be taking a look at him?

In other Leeds United news, multiple newspapers have slammed this Leeds player despite winning against Huddersfield.
