'Confidence is flowing' - Former Leeds ace heaps praise on 25y/o

There was a sense of disbelief at Elland Road after Leeds United threw away a three-goal lead to draw with Cardiff City 3-3 on Saturday. Behind that, there were still plenty of positives to take from the game.

Patrick Bamford once again excelled leading the line and found the back of the net twice – something that could see him hit form at just the right time for Leeds.

Summer signing Helder Costa also scored once again, and it appears that Marcelo Bielsa is finally starting to get the best out of the 25-year-old at Elland Road.

Costa was one of the shining stars in the clash on Saturday, but it ultimately ended in disappointment for Leeds as they couldn’t hold on to all three points.

Former Leeds defender Ben Parker was particularly impressed with the summer signing on Saturday, claiming that he is now full of confidence after stringing together a number of starts for the Whites.

“Helder Costa I feel is growing into his role now on the right-hand side,” Parker said after the clash on LUTV.

“Just with a run of games, the confidence is flowing through him.”

There is no hiding the fact that the Portuguese international struggled when first arriving in West Yorkshire, but he is really starting to come into his own.

Costa was squaring up Joe Bennett and beating him nearly every single time on Saturday and should have earned his side a penalty after being brought down in the box.

The 25-year-old is only going to keep getting better with the more confidence he collects during each game, and that will surely frighten most of the Championship between now and the end of the season.

Consistency is key behind any promotion push, and if Costa can replicate the form and importance of someone like Pablo Hernandez in the second half of the season, we could all be in for a treat.
