Leeds United chart-topping statistics shared after impressive season start
Two stats have emerged in favour of Leeds United today, as the Whites top the charts for both possession won in the final third, and fewest shots faced.
Both statistics are glowing displays of Leeds’ style of play, with the eagerness to win back possession, particularly when higher up the pitch, made evident, as well as their ability to prevent shots on goal.
The 11 goals conceded by Daniel Farke’s side so far is not the lowest tally in the league, Leicester hold that with just six, but they have been balanced out by the 17 goals scored as a result of the high-pressing style.
Taking to Twitter to share the stats, fan page AllDayLUFC posted a number of statistical updates, with Leeds impressively topping the charts on both of these.
The German boss has not taken long to implement his signature style on this squad, and while they may not always appear to be the most high-pressing intense side, the standard and quality of their play off the ball has been made clear by the stats.
One stat leads to the other in this case. Winning the ball high up the pitch as Farke’s teams aim to do, immediately results in facing fewer shots. Also, according to Sofascore, Leeds averages the majority of possession in most of their games.

Ultimately, you can’t analyse football just using stats, but it gives a clear display of the way the team is playing, and in the case of Daniel Farke’s Leeds side, the signs are very good so far. If they can keep up their chart-topping performances, they will give themselves every chance at success.
