Daniel Farke steadying Leeds United ship after 157-goal nightmare

Leeds United are currently performing at their one of their highest levels in recent years, with the Whites unbeaten in their last six league games.

They are looking very strong under Daniel Farke, who has been key to the recent upturn in form after a tricky start to the new Championship campaign.

And key to the current run has been a very sturdy defence, with the Whites keeping clean sheets in their last four games.

Two of those were goalless draws against Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City, with the other two coming in 3-0 wins against Millwall and Watford.

The current run of clean sheets really is a major shock to Whites supporters, who only recently witnessed their club concede a huge 157 goals across two Premier League seasons.

Of course the step up in standards was the major reason for that, but it simply wasn’t good enough at the back, and was one of the main factors as to why Leeds were relegated last season.

As per the official Premier League website, only Norwich City (84) conceded more goals than the Elland Road club (79) in the 2021/22 campaign.

But it was the latter’s turn to hold that unwanted record the following season, with Leeds conceding a league-high 78 goals. The Whites, therefore, conceded a mammoth 157 goals across those two campaigns.

The club have certainly taken major steps with their defence since those troubling top-flight campaigns, with the likes of Robin Koch, Max Wober and Rasmus Kristensen all moving on in the summer transfer window, albeit only on a temporary basis.

In other Leeds United news, Willy Gnonto has sent a one-word message to a Whites teammate after their 3-0 win against Watford.
