YEP journo: Leeds to hold review next week with Bielsa & Orta, manager contract to be sorted
Leeds United have just been crowned Championship champions but that does not mean that the hard work stops now.
According to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, managing director Angus Kinnear has messaged all the staff to congratulate them on playing a role in what has been a momentous season at Elland Road.
It is also understood that Leeds will start planning for next season – in the Premier League – as early as next week with the hard work set to start on Monday.
Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa will review where they are at and make plans for life back in the top-flight while Bielsa’s contract is also something that will be sorted out.
We do not envisage Bielsa leaving Leeds now but his contract does expire at the end of the season.
It could be just a formality to get the Argentine tied down to fresh terms but still, all of us Leeds fans want to see some clarity on his future as soon as possible.
Bielsa has been a breath of fresh air at Elland Road.
It is hard to think of a manager like him to have ever taken charge of the Yorkshire giants.
We’ll be talking about him, his tactics, his press conferences, Spygate and this season for years and years to come.
Bielsa is a Leeds United legend and someone who Andrea Radrizzani needs to push the boat out to convince him to stay put for at least a few more years – hopefully forever!
But we don’t think Bielsa will need convincing. He now has the chance to manage in the Premier League with a club that we think he has fallen in love with.
