Video clip shows Patrick Bamford return to Leeds United training in major boost

Patrick Bamford has returned to training at Thorp Arch on Thursday with his Leeds United injury hell seemingly coming towards an end.

Bamford, 28, has played just once since his last Premier League start on 17 September, suffering from three different injury issues.

BBC Radio Leeds journalist Adam Pope shared a video clip of Bamford in training under the watchful eye of new manager Jesse Marsch on 3 March, saying the striker is “heavily involved”.

Yorkshire Post journalist Stuart Rayner also showed an image of Bamford in a huddle with his teammates.

Return v Leicester?

Leeds play Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

It’ll be Marsch’s first game in charge of the Whites since being appointed to replace Marcelo Bielsa.

What a boost it will be for him to have Bamford back in the squad if the ex-Nottingham Forest striker is fully fit.

We don’t expect him to start due to the fact he hasn’t kicked a ball since his short cameo against Brentford in December. However, it wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility for him to be on the bench.

Marsch speaks to the media for the first time as Leeds boss at 1pm on Thursday so he’ll definitely offer an update on the centre-forward then.

But even if he cannot make the squad against Leicester, it’s just so good to see him back on the grass and training with the rest of his teammates.

It remains to be seen where Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper are in their bid to recover from hamstring injuries but they surely cannot be far off too as they were initially pencilled in to return this month.

In other Leeds United news, this new Elland Road man has only agreed to join on a short-term, six-month deal.
