‘To the Premier League’ – Many Leeds fans blown away by ‘Amazing’ contracts update
The future of many Leeds United players has finally been resolved on Friday afternoon as the Whites prepare for the Championship restart.
Leeds confirmed on their official Twitter account that Illan Meslier, Gaetano Berardi, Ben White, Helder Costa and Jack Harrison have all extended their stay at Elland Road for the next month.
All five will be available for selection from the first matchday of the restart, all the way through to the final game of the season against Charlton.
Although this is great news, one worrying aspect is the future of Jean-Kevin Augustin. The Frenchman suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury, and the forward could return to France at the end of June [Phil Hay].
Marcelo Bielsa shared an update on the 23-year-old in his press conference on Thursday, suggesting that Augustin is completing a single training plan alone.
With five players extending their deals at the club, either Augustin didn’t need to do that or his short but disappointing spell could have come to an end already.
Either way, it is a great move from Andrea Radrizzani, who will be delighted to make sure that Bielsa now has his strongest squad available for the run-in.
We expect four of those players to start against Cardiff as well, with Berardi more of a rotation option for if White or Liam Cooper are struggling in the next month.
Many Leeds fans were delighted with the update, with the majority claiming that promotion is on the horizon after the future of these players were confirmed.
