Spotted: Leeds to make Elland Road ‘History’ with major change v Aston Villa

Leeds United are set to make Elland Road history this evening with rail seating on trial against Aston Villa.

BBC Leeds journalist, Jonathan Buchan has shared an image with the rails in place at the back of the Kop.

That should mean that there will be some standing ahead of potential major permanent changes moving forward if successful.

Writing on his personal Twitter account alongside an image, Buchan shared the big change ahead of kick-off in West Yorkshire.

“History at Elland Road tonight as rail seating is on trial at the back of the Kop,” he wrote.

History.

So, the Whites are finally moving forward with the potential of safe-standing parts in Elland Road.

This hasn’t really been spoken about massively, and they have gone about their business quietly by the looks of things.

Games against Manchester United and Spurs have seen standing in large parts anyway, and now this is the area that could kickstart that.

The atmosphere promises to be electric for the first home game of Jesse Marsch, and he will be hoping that inspires a big win.

Villa have won their last two, but their form hasn’t exactly been eye-catching beyond that, so a big atmosphere with an early goal could see them panic.

With Marcelo Bielsa not in the dugout, it will feel strange and is its own piece of history as well, let’s finish it with all three points.
