Some Leeds fans react to Radrizzani coronavirus tweet: ‘Can’t wait to wash our hands of the EFL’
Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani has used his presence on social media to spread awareness of the current coronavirus outbreak that is sweeping the globe.
The impact of the illness has been well-publicised in the mainstream media and now it is starting to have an effect on football within the UK.
Earlier this week, the Scottish FA stopped players from shaking hands ahead of matches while the Premier League announced on Thursday they would be doing the same for this weekend’s round of fixtures.
There’s also a real possibility that games could be played behind closed doors or not get played at all if coronavirus spreads even more.
Radrizzani took to his personal Twitter account on Thursday night to tweet about the outbreak, adding some advice from the World Health Organisation.
While there are much bigger things to worry about with coronavirus than football, that hasn’t stopped some Leeds fans from discussing the possibility of them winning a long-awaited promotion to the Premier League without any fans there to witness it.
In Italy, where coronavirus is at it’s worst in Europe, sports events such as Serie A and the rugby Six Nations will be held behind closed doors.
Some Leeds fans are hoping it doesn’t escalate to that point here while others have pointed out that the handwashing facilities at Elland Road could do with an upgrade.
