Simon Thomas shares Jesse Marsch verdict after interviewing new Leeds United manager

Simon Thomas was really impressed by new Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch in an interview with him at Thorp Arch on Wednesday.

Marsch will manage Leeds for the first time at Elland Road on Thursday night as the relegation-threatened Whites take on Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Ahead of that game, Marsch spoke with former Sky Sports presenter Thomas and the broadcaster was blown away by the American.

“Just had the pleasure of interviewing the new Leeds head coach Jesse Marsch ahead of [Leeds versus Aston Villa] on Prime Video tomorrow night,” said Thomas via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon (9 March).

“Really impressed by him.”

Great speaker

If there’s one thing that we’ve learned about Marsch since he was hired, it’s that the ex-RB Leipzig manager is someone who can really have a great relationship with the media.

Marsch has come across really well in his opening interviews as Leeds manager and it suggests that Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta must’ve felt the same way in talks with him when Marcelo Bielsa left.

Marsch has a massive job at Leeds.

Not only does he need to keep this small, injury-ravaged and out-of-form squad outside of the Premier League’s bottom-three this season, but he also needs to win over the hearts of a fanbase that adored its former manager.

Bielsa, despite Leeds’ form, isn’t an easy act to follow but Marsch did oversee some encouraging signs last week when the Whites played Leicester at the King Power.

Yes, we lost. But there were a lot of positives to take from the game too and it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

In other Leeds United news, yet another Leeds player has had to undergo surgery.
