‘Signs are promising’ – Journalist claims Leeds in good position to ‘convince’ 23y/o to sign
The future of loan players and contracts have been widely debated at Leeds United during the enforced coronavirus break.
Gaetano Berardi is the only player with a deal set to expire this season, with Ben White, Jack Harrison and Jean Kevin-Augustin just a few of the names on loan at Elland Road.
Those would expire in June, but with the lockdown, this season could go past that date meaning some sort of extension would need to be sorted.
The future of Harrison may be much more straight forward than the others. The Athletic revealed that Leeds have an option to buy the winger for £8million – something he has proved could be a bargain.
Leeds Live journalist Kevin Beirne has revealed that the signs are looking up for the Whites, and any move may not take much persuading.
“While no agreement has been reached yet, and Leeds still don’t even know which division they will be playing in next season, the signs are promising for now that they can convince Harrison to make the switch a permanent one,” he wrote.
That seems to be a common theme, with the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth admitting that he doesn’t believe Manchester City will make any exit hard.
Harrison has been twice the player he was this season compared to his first campaign at Elland Road. The 23-year-old has already scored one more and has impressively claimed four more assists with another nine games to play [WhoScored].
If you asked a group of Leeds fans if they would make his switch permanent, we believe the majority would say yes and this is obviously a step in the right direction.
