'Serious problems' - Fabrizio Romano names two reasons Leeds-Cuisance deal collapsed

The deal between Leeds United and Bayern Munich for Michael Cuisance somehow has immediately collapsed on Thursday.

Leeds had previously agreed a £20million fee for the French midfielder, who had also put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal at Elland Road.

Sky Sports claimed that the Whites will now be pursuing other targets out of nowhere, despite the player having been in West Yorkshire to complete his medical.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has delivered a further update, sharing the two reasons why the deal collapsed out of nowhere.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Romano claimed that there were “serious problems” over the structure of the payments, as well as a disagreement over the buy-back clause.

“Michaël Cuisance-Leeds deal was done,” he wrote.

“Agreement reached, personal terms ok, player in Leeds to complete medicals, ‘goodbye’ by Rummenigge.

“There’s been serious problems between the two clubs about terms of payment [also of the buy-back clause].”

When the agreement between the two clubs was announced, the main question from nearly every Leeds fan was regarding the buy-back clause.

Given that the Whites were committed to spending £20million, surely they would have wanted the clause to be atleast double that figure for the Germans.

Who else could Leeds target?

The only player which the Whites are reportedly in talks with now is Norwich City’s, Todd Cantwell.

PA Sports have reported that Leeds were in advanced talks over a £15million deal, although no agreement had been reached as of yet.

Nicolo Schira followed that up on Wednesday, claiming that Cantwell had agreed personal terms at Elland Road already.

With a matter of days remaining in the window, Victor Orta will be back in the market looking for another midfielder. It’s going to be a busy week for the Spaniard.
