‘Selfish, arrogant decision’, ‘Gutting’ – Many Leeds fans react to reported EFL update

Leeds United fans are not happy to see the EFL’s latest plan to reconvene the currently-suspended 2019/20 season.

Although many Leeds supporters would take seeing their side win promotion behind closed doors as oppose to the season being declared null and void, there are still some who are not pleased with the possibility of that happening in June.

According to a report by ESPN, the EFL plans to resume the Championship on June 6 with matches being played in empty stadiums.

It is understood there would be a three-week “mini pre-season” before that date for players to get back up to speed before the action resumes.

While we cannot wait for football to be back on our televisions and be able to attend stadiums once again, it seems that the EFL may have jumped the gun a bit here.

No one can say when exactly the season can resume due to the coronavirus pandemic causing so many deaths in the United Kingdom and across the world.

What about ambulances who must be at matches? What about the fact there will still have to be well over 100 people at a stadium for a match without fans? What about if a player falls ill and the virus kicks off again? What about those EFL clubs who rely on matchday income to stay alive?

There are a lot of issues with this plan and most of these Leeds fans have made that clear on Twitter.
