Report details which month Leeds fans may be able to pile back into Elland Rd after EFL meeting

Leeds United fans might not be able to attend Elland Road again this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that after the EFL held a meeting on Wednesday, it is expected that fans will not be able to go to matches until January 2021 – at the earliest.

Plans are being discussed for Championship clubs to be able to resume the 2019/20 season behind closed doors in a bid to finish the campaign in the fairest possible way.

Although Leeds fans would be happy with that outcome, it would no doubt be bittersweet as no one will be at Elland Road to watch the side win promotion back to the Premier League, assuming that happens.

But if the season does resume within the next couple of months and the Whites do go up, fans may not even be able to see their team play in the Premier League until next year.

We will have to wait and see how everything pans out but it is sad to think that Elland Road will be empty for at least another eight or nine months.

However we appreciate that the health and safety of the wider public is the top priority here and seeing Leeds back in the Premier League, albeit only on television, will be better than seeing this season declared null and void.

In other Leeds United news, there’s been a major flaw revealed in the EFL’s plan to resume the season that could impact Leeds’ promotion charge heavily.
