Report details where Victor Orta is expected to be next season amid speculation
Victor Orta is expected to remain as the director of football at Leeds United next season despite speculation surrounding his future at Elland Road.
The Independent has reported that Red Bull have lined up the Spanish recruitment chief as a candidate for their vacant technical director role.
Paul Mitchell left his role at Red Buil International Soccer, who own clubs in Salzburg, Leipzig, New York and São Paulo, and that has led to Orta emerging as someone who could take over.
However, an update by LeedsLive says that Orta has not been approached and is not interested in the job at Red Bull.
It is understood that he is also surprised by the Independent’s report.
We’re delighted that Orta is set to stay.
Although he had a rough start to life in West Yorkshire by signing a number of flops (like Felix Wedwald, Caleb Ekuban, Pawel Cibicki and Laurens de Bock), the Spaniard has more than redeemed himself by playing a role in Marcelo Bielsa’s arrival as manager.
Bielsa has brought the best out of a number of players who, at first glimpse, did not seem to be anything special before the Argentine’s arrival.
Mateusz Klich is the best example of an Orta signing revived.
He didn’t get a look in under Thomas Christiansen and was sent out on loan halfway through his first season.
But since Bielsa’s appointment, Klich has started every Championship match.
Orta is definitely someone who Leeds need to keep and fair play to him for not being interested in Red Bull because it would no doubt be an exciting opportunity to work in such a unique environment.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are eyeing up a striker who’s also wanted by Juventus and Man City.
