Report details Radrizzani stance on Leeds financial blow, significant chunk of revenue lost

Leeds United are losing a huge chunk of their revenue with the remaining nine matches set to be played behind closed doors.

According to the Times, 38 per cent of Leeds income for the 2018/19 season came through matchday and commercial revenue but with no fans able to attend Elland Road for the remainder of the current campaign, the Whites are set to miss out on a lot of money.

It is understood that promotion to the Premier League is “vital” for the Yorkshire club in order to offset the money lost from gate receipts and whatever other ways they make money on matchday.

Winning promotion would lead to United having a slice of the Premier League’s huge television deal, which will more than account for the money lost on matchdays.

As for Andrea Radrizzani’s stance on all of this, the Times reports that he ” is prepared to soak up the losses”.

However the report adds that the Italian business remains committed to his approach that he will only fund a Championship club for so long.

Leeds should win promotion to the Premier League. If they don’t it will be the biggest bottle job in the club’s 100-year history.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men are top of the Championship table and seven points clear of third with nine matches left to play.

Next Sunday, Leeds play away at Cardiff City as they resume their season.

Let’s hope they can get off to a winning start and points are dropped elsewhere in the top-six to open up their advantage even more.

In other Leeds United news, a defender linked with the Whites is quitting his club.
