Report details earliest match Leeds can win PL promotion in as restart draws closer
Leeds United could mathematically win promotion to the Premier League as early as their game against Blackburn on July 4, according to LeedsLive.
Leeds restart their Championship campaign on June 20 with a trip to Cardiff City before an Elland Road double-header against Fulham and Luton.
After that, the Whites travel to Lancashire to play Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn and, technically, they could secure their return to the Premier League by winning that game.
Of course, that is unlikely because it would mean the chasing pack would have to lose matches all over the place to give the Whites such an early promotion but the fact remains that could be the game we go up in.
After the game against Blackburn, Marcelo Bielsa’s men play Stoke, Swansea and Barnsley, which are three games where securing promotion becomes a lot more realistic.
Leeds then finish off the season with what could be dead-rubber ties against Derby and Charlton.
We don’t want it to go down to the wire but it would be great to seal promotion to the Premier League, or top-spot in the Championship, by winning away at Pride Park on July 18.
After all that has happened between Leeds and Derby in the last 18 months, that would be the perfect way to put certain demons to bed.
