Phil Hay shares what Marcelo Bielsa revealed he is unhappy about in press conference

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa is unhappy with jokes being made about the length of his answers in press conference, according to Phil Hay.

The Athletic reporter shared Bielsa’s comments about the jokes via his personal Twitter account as he spoke to the press on Monday ahead of Leeds’ promotion showdown against Brentford on Tuesday.

Since being appointed as Leeds’ manager in the summer of 2018, Bielsa has regularly offered lengthy answers to questions from the media.

After Thursday’s press conference ahead of the clash with Nottingham Forest, Bielsa was mocked by certain outlets for the length of his answers.

Sky Sports News aired a clip of Bielsa answering a question about Jean-Kevin Augustin’s fitness and included a clock to time how long it took him.

Leeds fans and media close to the club, such as former Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Hay, are fully aware of how long it takes Bielsa to offer his explanations and although they mention it every now and then, it does not escalate to mocking in the way that Sky Sports did last week.

We should be thankful for having a manager like Bielsa in English football.

He is doing a great job at Elland Road, despite the side’s current struggles, and his lengthy explanations in press conferences are something that should be appreciated.
