Phil Hay responds as Jesse Marsch once again strongly linked with Leeds United
Leeds United have once again been strongly linked with Jesse Marsch to take charge at Elland Road in the summer.
The Telegraph has reported that the American is now the number one choice to replace Marcelo Bielsa if he decides to leave once the season is over.
Phil Hay has finally responded to those links today, insisting that Marsch is a “genuine” contender to take over in West Yorkshire.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Hay responded as Bielsa replacement stories hit overdrive.
“Jesse Marsch being linked with Leeds again,” he wrote.
“I wrote about him in this article yesterday – a genuine candidate if the club look for a new head coach this summer, in part because his tactical style would not be a massive deviation.”
Genuine.
So then, it looks as though this is the route Leeds will take.
It makes complete sense too, an American coming in to replace Bielsa in the same summer that the 49ers may take the step to become majority shareholders.
Marsch is being mentioned on merit, though, having been successful in the MLS before managing both Salzburg and Leipzig.
The German side even managed to beat Manchester City during his tenure, proving he has tactics to succeed against English sides.
This all depends on Bielsa, though, and it looks as though we are coming to a decision very soon with Leeds pushing along with their plans already.
A summer of transition is coming on and off the pitch, with transfers expected in and out, now it is time to share who will be in charge of that once the time comes.
