Phil Hay: Patrick Bamford has done Leeds United training at Thorp Arch, may be too soon to return v Chelsea
Phil Hay has shared that Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has completed ball work and fitness session at Thorp Arch this week as he steps up his recovery.
The Athletic journalist, unfortunately, reported that the game against Chelsea on Wednesday [11 May] may come too soon for the England international to feature though.
Bamford has struggled with numerous injuries this season, and the hope was that he would return for the final few games of the Premier League campaign.

Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic, Hay shared the latest state of play regarding the injury of Bamford and his availability moving forward.
“Bamford completed ball work and fitness sessions at Thorp Arch last week, giving Marsch the impression that he would be ready to join in with full training this week,” he wrote.
“The timing suggests tomorrow will arrive too soon for Leeds to take a gamble there and then but nothing that happens against Chelsea is guaranteed to take the sting out of the two games that follow.”

Desperate.
We have been crying out for that talisman who is also a target man in the final third.
Dan James and Rodrigo have both tried for the entire season, but the truth is, they simply don’t find the back of the net enough to be viable options instead of Bamford.
The number of times a ball has been fired across the box and no-one has been there to tap it home, we have simply been left thinking, imagine if Bamford was in the squad – he would be there to smash it in.
It would be a huge boost to even have the England international on the bench against Chelsea on Wednesday [11 May], but it looks as though that may be a big push.
Either way, you would hope that he could be ready to feature against Brighton and Brentford with more work, and hopefully even from the start to the end of those showdowns.
Leeds desperately need Bamford right now, and who knows? He could be the difference between playing Premier League or Championship football next season.
