Phil Hay details ‘culture war’ brewing at Leeds United in the long term future

Phil Hay has insisted there is still a “culture war” heading for Leeds United and Jesse Marsch in the long term.

The Whites took another huge step to Premier League safety this weekend, smashing Watford 3-0 at Vicarage Road.

The battle to entertain after the exit of Marcelo Bielsa has been on the agenda heavily, but Hay insisted that all that matters is that Leeds have been better than those around them.

Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic, Hay shared that no one is currently doing it better than the Whites down there.

“There is a culture war brewing in the longer term, the battle to entertain a public who want to be entertained,” he wrote.

“But for the past month, Leeds have been better than anyone else in the bottom five at digging out points. Hodgson sounded like a coach who no longer expects to find a spade.”

Marsch time.

The American has come in and done exactly what was needed to be done, and that is pick up results.

No one will care about your nationality or what you say in press conferences each week, as long as you win games and keep Leeds in the Premier League.

Thankfully, that is exactly what he is doing right now and everyone is currently loving life in and around Elland Road.

With players coming back from injuries and a full transfer window to come, staying up is only the first step to come.

Marsch will then get a chance to bring in those who he wants around, working closely with Victor Orta, and then we should see big changes.

You have to say, it doesn’t feel for one second like a war is coming, things are finally looking up for the Whites and we can’t wait for more.
