Phil Hay: 49ers make no progress with Leeds United shareholding, no investment needed this summer
The 49ers Enterprises have not increased their stake in Leeds United as things stand, according to Phil Hay.
It has been reported by The Athletic journalist that the minority shareholders won’t have been needed to pump money into transfers this summer after the sales of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.
The 49ers do hold the option to takeover the club, but for now, it appears that Andrea Radrizzani will remain in charge, and money will only be asked for if needed.

Speaking in the latest episode of the Phil Hay Show on Thursday [21 July], the 49ers were addressed with things seemingly going very quiet.
“As it stands, I don’t think there has been any shift on the shareholding,” he said.
“Although what is very obvious, is the money coming in from Raphinha and Phillips is meant that there won’t have had to have been any shareholder investment for transfers.
“That money comes in, that money goes out, that funds essentially the transfer window, unless additional money is needed.”

Change coming?
Leeds have raked in the money this summer, and although their incoming spend will likely go above £100million, that isn’t the whole picture.
The Whites’ net spend will likely be the best in the Premier League compared to the number of bodies that have arrived at Elland Road.
That currently stands at seven, but with a left-back, striker and potentially even a new goalkeeper, it could go into double figures as Jesse Marsch builds his squad.
The 49ers shouldn’t be needed, but given they have the option to complete their full takeover very soon, their investment will become much more prominent in years to come.
Paraag Marathe spends plenty of time at the club and with Radrizzani, and discussions will likely be frequent over investment and transfers, as we look to build something special.
Expect this to change soon as the influence grows more and more from the American consortium in West Yorkshire.
