Patrick Bamford shares what is deducted from his salary at Leeds United

Patrick Bamford has shared that the meals he has on a normal training day at Leeds United get deducted from his salary.

The striker has helped lead the West Yorkshire outfit’s attacking line since he joined the club in 2018 from Middlesbrough but has had a tough time of it recently due to injury struggles.

Speaking on the My Mate’s A Footballer Podcast (14 October), Joe Wilkinson asked Bamford how many meals he’d have on a usual training day at Leeds United with the striker sharing an unusual answer.

“Two every day that we’re in,” Bamford said with Wilkinson replying: “Two free meals a day, lovely”.

Which is where the unexpected answer from Bamford came “No, we pay for them,” Bamford said, to which Wilkinson just simply said: “What?”

Bamford then explained: “Yeah it gets deducted from your salary, I’m going to say it’s £3.50 a day, this might be miles off.”

Patrick Bamford could be key for Leeds United this season

Bamford has been sidelined for most of the campaign this season. Although he’s managed to play a handful of games, it still feels like there is more to come from the striker.

His form has been somewhat off the pace in recent seasons but Daniel Farke himself admitted that Leeds will “desperately” need the striker this season.

Mateo Joseph has been the main focal point of the West Yorkshire outfit’s attack this term but he has not been a regular source of goals thus far.

With Bamford fit and firing, Farke may decide to bring the 31-year-old into the fold and certainly he provides another good option to supplement Joseph and Joel Piroe in Leeds’ attack.

Striker was one of the few areas of Farke’s team that he didn’t choose to bolster in the summer and, at the moment, that’s an area where maybe he will want to look at in January.

Bamford could step up for Leeds once he’s fully up to speed in training and perhaps lead them towards Premier League promotion if he can get himself in a decent run of form.
