Patrick Bamford shares Twitter message as he returns to Leeds United training

Patrick Bamford has returned to first-team training for Leeds United and he has posted a message on Twitter.

The 28-year-old has struggled badly with fitness this season, and has picked up recurrent injuries, much to the frustration of the manager.

He was pictured in the gym at Thorp Arch, and it was the first time he was involved in training since rupturing his plantar fascia in the 3-2 victory over Wolves.

Bamford tweeted: “Was just getting warm.”

Encouraging

It was previously thought that Bamford won’t be able to return to the Leeds first-team this season, but there is now hope that he can play some part.

It seems that the England international is way ahead of schedule in his recovery, and credit should go to the club physios for helping him get fit quickly.

Bamford has missed the bulk of the season, and his absence has hurt the club badly. The lack of squad depth at Leeds is well-documented, and the Whites have really missed a quality centre-forward this season.

Joe Geltardt is a promising young talent, and it is too much to ask of the young lad to fill the void. Daniel James has played upfront but he is best used to playing on the wide.

Tyler Roberts could have been another brilliant option for the Whites, but he too has struggled with form and fitness this season.

Luckily, for Leeds, Rodrigo has stepped in. The Whites are likely to stay up, unless there is a dramatic collapse.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites will 100 per cent sign a striker in the summer.
