‘Not been done yet’ – Exclusive: Pundit claims one thing vital for Leeds PL transfer success

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said that it doesn’t matter what the transfer budget for Leeds is this summer as long as Marcelo Bielsa is in charge.

The Mail on Sunday (via Leeds Live) have said that Bielsa is set to get £45m to spend, with one Leeds target, Said Benrahma, said to be available for around £20m.

If that is the budget it wouldn’t leave a lot of wriggle room but Robinson is confident that Bielsa can find the players to keep Leeds in the Premier League.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “I think if spent wisely and correctly then £45m would be enough for Leeds, as long as Bielsa is still at the helm.

“His scouting network, his ability to find players and to make them better is unrivalled. I think the key is to tie Bielsa down to a new contract and that’s not been done yet.

“Regardless of what budget he’s given, he’ll work with it and he’s the man you want to be in charge of spending it.

“He will be able to attract players, he will be able to unearth hidden gems – and the way the club is structured with him and Victor Orta in charge of transfers seems to be the right way, and it’s working for Leeds.

“I think regardless of the budget, he’ll sign the players that Leeds will need to stay in the Premier League next season.”

Bielsa works with one-year contracts and Leeds will have this every season.

However, you look at the face on the man above and what he’s achieved at Leeds since he arrives, and it’s hard to see him not signing on for another season at Elland Road.

If he does, we’re sure that the summer business will do the business for Leeds.
